"Buddy" was found on the highway by a concerned citizen. He was a muddy, matted mess full of cockleburs and in very thin under all of the hair. We were just certain someone would call looking for their dog, but they did not. We reached out to area vets to see if they had records of a Great Pyreneese that had had a rear right leg amputated. The only dog we found that matched that description was home safe and sound. Having exhausted all of our ideas about how to find his owner, Buddy is now available to adopt. Buddy is heartworm negative and current on his vaccinations now, including rabies. We had x-rays taken of his hip on the opposite side from his amputation, because he does seem to tire more easily and need to sit down more often than most three-legged dogs. His hip is fine except it does show a bit of arthritis, which is not unusual. Buddy would benefit from Rimadyl or a generic equivalent daily to help make him more comfortable and increase his mobility. Buddy is a gentle soul and will be looking for a loving home.
