Kevin is a beautiful one year old dog.  He is a yellow lab mixed with a golden/retriever and heeler cross. 

Kevin is great with kids and people.  Kevin does not like cats.

Kevin was owner relinquished by a family because after he turned one, he started roaming and wouldn't stay home.  They have a male german shepard and the two had started not getting along when Kevin matured, so they think that may be part of it.  They chose to look for a new forever home for Kevin, rather than to pen or tie him up.

Kevin was always an outside dog, so has not been housetrained yet.

Kevin can be seen at the shelter 1-4 Sunday afternoons or 1-3 Mon-Sat. 

We require a completed/approved adoption application which can be found on our website www.claycountyshelter.com prior to adoption.  

Kevin has now been neutered and tested negative for heartworms.

The typical adoption fee for dogs is $150.  It includes vaccination, deworming , spay/neuter, heartworm testing on dogs of age and microchipping, which is now mandatory by state law.  Some dogs we discount to as little as $50 due to sponsorship.  Some dogs we ask a higher adoption fee, which helps us recoup expenses on heartworm treatment on other dogs.

All cats are spayed/neutered/vaccinated/flea treated/dewormed and microchipped prior to adoption.  Cat adoption fees range from $60-$100.  We spay/neuter/microchip/vaccinate and deworm all kittens and cats, prior to adoption.  Our shyer/less adoptable cats are classed as "barn cats" and are free with a completed/approved barn cat application, which can be found on our website.
