Dash, his seven brothers and one sister were born at the shelter to a mama dog who was picked up as a stray only a couple of days before.  The puppies are adorable and have been raised in a foster home.  They are seven weeks old on 12/14/2014 and will be available to adopt Saturday, 12/20/14 at eight weeks old.

They have had their first round of puppy shots and been dewormed.  We will get them neutered/spayed this week.

The adoption fee will be $125 and includes the spay/neuter, microchip, first round of vaccinations and deworming.

Border collies and heelers need a lot of exercise and activity to live happy lives.  They are known for their intelligence and loyalty.  An active family with lots of room to run and play daily would be best.  A young border collie/heeler cross would not be a first choice for apartment living.

We require a completed and approved adoption application for the puppies, which can be found on our website, www.claycountyshelter.com under forms/applications.  There are NINE puppies in the litter, eight boys and one girl.   We prefer to call back after reviewing the completed adoption application.

The typical adoption fee for dogs is $150.  It includes vaccination, deworming , spay/neuter, heartworm testing on dogs of age and microchipping, which is now mandatory by state law.  Some dogs we discount to as little as $50 due to sponsorship.  Some dogs we ask a higher adoption fee, which helps us recoup expenses on heartworm treatment on other dogs.

All cats are spayed/neutered/vaccinated/flea treated/dewormed and microchipped prior to adoption.  Cat adoption fees range from $60-$100.  We spay/neuter/microchip/vaccinate and deworm all kittens and cats, prior to adoption.  Our shyer/less adoptable cats are classed as "barn cats" and are free with a completed/approved barn cat application, which can be found on our website.
