Elsa has been in loving foster care for the past three weeks, and is now available for adoption at Petsmart in Champaign.

Early last year, Elsa had her tail got run over, and a Good Samaritan took her to the vet. Her tail had to be amputated, leaving a short stub. This year, her tail got infected again. When we found out about it, we helped Elsa get treated at the vet. She was also spayed and vaccinated.

Elsa has lived her young life as an outside cat. Even though she had an owner, she did not have access to a litterbox or to clean drinking water. She was expected to drink out of ditches and relied on the generosity of folks in the neighborhood to feed her. No wonder she is so appreciative of human company, and enjoys the comforts of a home.

Elsa has an unusual trait. Sit her down in your lap, and she will hardly sit still. She rolls over on her back, expects you to pet her, then turns over one way, then another. It’s comical to see her toss and turn so many times. Her favorite thing is rolling on her back, so you can pet her tummy.

Elsa has striking tabby markings with grey-black patterns -- swirls, stripes and spots. She also has a sweet personality to match. Hoping she finds a wonderful forever family soon.

The typical adoption fee for dogs is $150.  It includes vaccination, deworming , spay/neuter, heartworm testing on dogs of age and microchipping, which is now mandatory by state law.  Some dogs we discount to as little as $50 due to sponsorship.  Some dogs we ask a higher adoption fee, which helps us recoup expenses on heartworm treatment on other dogs.

All cats are spayed/neutered/vaccinated/flea treated/dewormed and microchipped prior to adoption.  Cat adoption fees range from $60-$100.  We spay/neuter/microchip/vaccinate and deworm all kittens and cats, prior to adoption.  Our shyer/less adoptable cats are classed as "barn cats" and are free with a completed/approved barn cat application, which can be found on our website.
